just done....

this is going to be a complete bitch fest...just an fyi :)

i woke up at 4:30am (mind you-i didn't fall asleep until after 2am) to HORRIBLE cramps...like i couldn't stand up straight horrible.  i literally laid on the couch and whimpered for 10-15 minutes before forcing myself to get up because i needed to go to the bathroom so bad.  for the next 2.5 hours i just laid on the couch and i felt like i was drifting in and out of consciousness...i was (and still am) SO TIRED.

when josh woke up for work i cried and basically begged him to put me out of my misery.  pathetic.  i finally fell asleep and woke up around 12 and called the clinic to ask them what i should do.  nothing helped and since i am on bed rest my options are limited!  i had an appointment with a nurse practitioner at 3pm so they had me come in early to do an NST just to be sure the twins were okay...which worried me!

josh couldn't leave work so i cried the entire way to the clinic because even driving hurt...luckily the twins knocked it out of the ball park on their NST but it took everything i had in me not to burst into tears when the NP told me this was "par for the course" at this point in my twin pregnancy.  i never thought i could be so miserable :(

my back is killing me-Baby B is sitting on my sciatic (sp?) nerve and Baby A's head dropped even further so i feel like every time i stand up that he might just fall out.  they also both have various body parts up in my ribcage which makes lying down ZERO fun.  my blood pressure as usual is borderline high and with it now comes swelling and a headache!  to top it all off-im not dilated at all!!  i would find SOME comfort if all this suffering was actually doing "something"....i came home the same way i went...crying the whole way.  i took a few Tylenol (the first time i have taken ANYTHING this entire pregnancy) and passed out.  josh is out of his realm here...he doesn't know what to do and i don't know what i WANT him to do.

all this to say-i am SO SO SO thankful for this pregnancy and these two babies-i promise i am!  i think i am just so surprised with how miserable i feel....especially when up until this past week i have felt relatively good considering.

2 weeks...i CAN do this.  and then i will never do this again...i AM sure of that!

32 weeks and an eviction notice :)

so technically i will be 33 weeks tomorrow (friday 4.20.12) but i thought i would recap...i have to do at least ONE of these surveys before the twins arrive :)

  • How far along? 32 weeks
    • Total weight gain:  30 pounds
    • Maternity clothes?  of course!
    • Stretch marks? not yet...i keep waiting!
    • Sleep:  i basically sleep for 1.5-2 hours at a time before i need to either go to the bathroom or switch positions...i sleep on the couch now :(
    • Best moment this week:  the twins getting their eviction notice :)
    • Miss Anything? a bottle (not just a glass) of wine, my normal clothes and just feeling like myself in general...i  am SO SO SO thankful to be pregnant but i am very ready to be done with this pregnancy and meet my sweet boys!
    • Movement: all the time!
    • Food cravings: cereal and sushi
    • Food aversions: hamburger or basically ANY type of meat (i CAN handle chicken)...and really anything gives me horrid acid reflux anymore so my breakfast, lunch and supper choices are very limited!
    • Gender: BOYS :)
    • Labor Signs: still getting regular contractions but nothing too intense...i have also been feeling a lot of pressure and have been having cramps this past week.  the doctors assured me this is normal and i was checked today and we're still good :)
    • Symptoms: acid reflux, back pain, pressure (down there) and just feeling really tired all the time.
    • Belly Button in or out? oh it's OUT
    • Wedding rings on or off? off :(
    • Looking forward to: may 15th and my mom coming this weekend!!!
    i will post a picture tomorrow when i do 33 weeks :)

well we had our weekly NST this morning and then i saw my regular OBGYN this afternoon.  the twins looked great on the monitors and my OB did a little mini ultrasound this afternoon so she could check them out (usually only the specialist sees them on ultrasound so i think my OB felt left out..ha).  i am so used to seeing them on the BIG ultrasound screen and it was funny to try see them on her little push cart machine because ONE of their heads takes up the whole screen :) the BEST part of my appointment today was when she set the date (gave the twins their eviction notice) for my c-section :) MAY 15th it is!!!  that is...IF they stay in there until then!  i will be 36 weeks 3 days on May 15th and i am so happy to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!  25 days!

the reason that they want them out by 36-37 weeks is because they are at more risk INSIDE than OUTSIDE.  they are mono-di identical and at risk for placenta deterioration and acute twin to twin transfusion.  and baby b is breech so that is why we are going ahead with the c-section.

that is all the information i have for today...whew!  33 weeks tomorrow :) and my mom is coming for the weekend so clean and hang out with us!!  feeling very BLESSED today....

just another day in labor and delivery ;)

yesterday (tuesday) josh and i went in for the twins bio physical ultrasound and to see the maternal fetal medicine specialist.  the boys scored an 8/8 on their bio physical which made this mama VERY happy :) and of course i love that we are able to see them once a week during ultrasounds...IF (and people that is a HUGE if) we ever decided to have more children i don't know what it will be like to only have a couple ultrasounds...we are so spoiled and used to being able to see our sweet little guys every week!

when the mfm specialist came in he very sweetly informed me that my blood pressure was way to high and that i had protein in my urine so he was admitting me to l&d to monitor my blood pressure and keep an eye on my contractions.  the weird thing is that i felt perfectly fine other than being really nauseous (which has been the norm lately-ew).  so my favorite nurse comes in with a WHEELCHAIR...i was mortified!  i insisted that i could walk over to l&d but policy is policy...so off they wheeled me.  they hooked me up to all the monitors and actually had me in a birthing room instead of just the triage part which scared me a little bit.  at one point i was having contractions every 1-3 minutes...yikes!  they pumped me full of fluids and had me lay on my side...in between all the bathroom breaks (from all the fluids!).  they also started me on the lovely 24 hour urine sample (we did this once before in february)...finally after 8 hours my contractions slowed down and my blood pressure went down enough that they sent me home...whew!  i brought in my lovely jug-o-urine today and had more blood drawn so we should know tomorrow if i have preeclampsia and where we'll go from here.  neither my mfm specialist or my regular ob seem to think i will make it until 36 weeks (at which point they will induce me/schedule my c-section)...this really stresses me out because it could happen at any time and i feel so unprepared..even though we ARE as prepared as we'll ever be!

baby b is still head up and baby a is head down as always...they keep telling me delivery options are up in the air depending on baby b...the thing is is that i have always said i would prefer a c-section over a vaginal delivery (and this was long before i ever got pregnant-let alone knew i would have twins).  but as d-day gets closer i find myself second guessing my adamant decision.  IF baby b decides to flip to a head down position it might be best to try deliver them naturally..."try" being the key word.  they would make me deliver in the OR just in case and i really really really don't want to have to recover from both a vaginal delivery AND a c-section if baby b decided to be difficult.  so then this makes me think it would just be easier to go with a c-section...i just don't know and that stresses this overly type a mama out!

ANYWAY-my bags are officially packed now and we're just playing it by ear!  :) hopefully the twins decide to bake a little longer but we know we have the best care available if they do decide to make their appearance early!

here is a sweet picture of baby b from my 30 week ultrasound...32 weeks this friday!

    officially on "bed rest"

so LAST (3.26.12) monday we had a little scare...i was at work and started getting regular contractions and just didn't feel "right" so i called my OBGYN's office and the nurse told me to head to labor and delivery to get checked out.  an entire afternoon later they let me leave...i was having regular contractions but the boys were both fine and my cervix was "nice and closed" as the nurse put it :) they are very hesitant to give me meds to slow the contractions due to my tachycardia...one of the biggest side effects of the contraction meds is a high heart rate and mine is already too high...even with medication...SO when i saw my regular OB on wednesday for a follow up she cleared me to "try" work for the next two weeks but told me that bed rest was a for sure by the 13th of april.  i worked thursday, friday and today but the contractions returned and josh and i just do not feel it's worth the "risk"....even if i am not mentally ready to just "rest" for the next 6 weeks!  the only thing i know for sure is that i do not want babies in the nicu so i will do everything in my power to keep my precious boys "in" for as long as possible!

this week we start our twice weekly visits!  tomorrow is our mfm (maternal fetal medicine) specialist appointment with the growth ultrasound and friday is with my OBGYN and a non-stress test.  basically every week we will be doing ultrasounds on tuesdays and ns tests on fridays with visits with the specialist and my regular OB on one of those two days!

it's hard to believe that i have around 6 pounds of baby in me....this pregnancy has not been without drama but it has gone surprisingly fast and for that i am thankful!

i have enjoyed reading other "twin blogs"....and now that i am on couch duty i will be reading even more!
